Alan Brown returns to BBC as Editor, Factual Entertainment

Alan Brown is returning to the BBC as Editor, Factual Entertainment, after one year at independent production company TalkbackTHAMES, where he was Head of Factual and Comedy Entertainment and is currently executive producing ‘The Apprentice’.
Brown will join the department in mid-February and will be responsible for a range of factual entertainment shows.
Factual Entertainment is the home of successful series including ‘Dragon's Den’ (BBC Two); ‘Honey We're Killing the Kids’ (BBC Three/BBC One); and the upcoming Millionaire's Challenge (BBC Two).
David Mortimer, BBC Creative Head of Factual Entertainment, who made the appointment, said: "Alan is one on Britain's most creative programme makers. He was the brains behind the fantastically successful ‘I Love...’ brand and has an incredible CV. The BBC is his natural home and we welcome him back."
Alan Brown said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed my year in the independent sector but this is an opportunity I couldn't refuse. I passionately believe that the BBC offers me the most creative environment in television.
"I've been really impressed by the BBC's factual entertainment shows that the team have developed in the last couple of years. They are shows that have intelligent content but at the same time are great fun to watch."
Prior to joining TalkbackTHAMES, Brown was Senior Commissioning Executive, BBC Entertainment, and executive produced the first series of The Apprentice and commissioned the first series of Dragon's Den and ‘Britain's Best Sitcoms’.
As Editor, BBC Documentaries and Contemporary Factual between 2002 and 2003, Alan worked on the hugely successful Great Britons for BBC Two and while Executive Producer, Factual Entertainment based in Manchester, created and oversaw the I Love... brand.
