TV 'Everywhere' At IBC2014

News Image
Visitors to this year's show in Amsterdam will be able to keep up to date with all the big news courtesy of the launch of a new, 24-hour IBC TV channel.

'IBC TV – Bringing You Content Everywhere' will be launched at the opening of the Conference on Thursday 11 September and will take the place of the daily, 20-minute morning magazine programme that has broadcast at the show since 1996.
The channel will be on-air until the close of the IBC Exhibition on Tuesday 16 September. 'Everywhere' is clearly the key word within this new media venture, as the service will be accessible via any web-connected smartphone, tablet or PC and can be picked up at designated Wi-Fi hotspots around the RAI. It will also be available at hotels across Amsterdam where IBC has negotiated free Wi-Fi access.
IBC TV will also be available with sub-titles on 26 digital screens around the RAI exhibition complex. This will include a large, outdoor digital display and three indoor screens positioned in areas of high footfall at the show.
The channel will produce live streams from IBC Conference keynote sessions, analyses from industry experts and IBC Conference sessions from the Forum. It will also report business and technology news stories that break on the show floor or in the Conference. This year, sessions from IBC Content Everywhere Workflow Solutions and two other show-floor theatres - the IBC Content Everywhere Hub Theatre in Hall 14 and the IBC Content Everywhere Cloud Solutions Theatre in Hall 3 – will also be featured on IBC TV.
"The launch of the new format builds on experience gained through a trial centred on the Workflow Solutions Theatre at IBC2013," a statement said. "In this show-floor auditorium in Hall 9, broadcasters and content creators supported by their suppliers presented case studies to share their experiences of adopting file-based workflows. Video recordings of the presentations were made available as video-on-demand via the Touch & Connect Portal."
Much of the output, including all recorded sessions from IBC Conference and the show-floor theatres, will be made available as VoD via the IBC Content Everywhere Touch & Connect Portal. IBC TV content will also be signposted from the IBC, IBC Content Everywhere and IBC TV websites.
"The convergence of broadcast and broadband distribution and the explosion in demand from consumers for ‘content everywhere’ are key strategic issues for the overwhelming majority of exhibitors and visitors at IBC," a statement said. "The new look IBC TV will give more broadcast and digital media professionals access to IBC content everywhere both during the show via the live streams or afterwards on-demand."
