Director Michael Samuels Reunites With Hackenbacker For The Fear

Director Michael Samuels has once reselcted Hackenbacker's audio post production team for his new four-part drama series The Fear.
This will be screened on terrestrial TV in December.
Hackenbacker and Michael Samuels previously joined forces during the making of Any Human Heart, a Carnival Films/Masterpiece mini-series that was nominated for a 2011 Emmy Award in the Outstanding Sound Editing for a Mini-series, Movie or Special category.
The Fear, which is being made for Channel 4 by World Productions in association with WW Entertainment, stars Peter Mullan as Richie Beckett, a Brighton crime boss turned entrepreneur whose hard-earned respectability and dream of rebuilding Brighton's derelict West Pier is threatened by the Albanian mafia. Beckett is also struggling with an aggressive form of early onset dementia that makes his behaviour erratic and extreme. With his short-term memory fading, he turns to his old adversary Seb (Richard E. Grant) for help, but when his dark past bleeds into the present, it reveals unresolved traumas that echo the chaos surrounding him.
Written by Richard Cottan (Wallander, Hancock & Joan), The Fear also stars Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones, The Iron Lady), Paul Nicholls (The Passion, Clapham Junction) and Anastasia Hille (Snow White and the Huntsman, The Awakening).

Michael's distinguished use of sound in this deeply intense series really adds another dimension to the storytelling.
"By using devices such as the removal of usually 'expected' sonic elements and other techniques, some of which are very subtle, we aim to help involve the audience with Richie's experiences as heard from his perspective."
The Fear will begin broadcasting on Channel 4 on December 3rd and will be shown across four night that week.
