Volicon Develops Global Broadcasting Customers

Volicon has hired Michael Asebrook as Senior Marketing Product Manager, in a move that will enable the company to expand into new vertical areas in the broadcast industry, as well as build its traditional customer base worldwide.
In his new role, Asebrook will be responsible for strengthening the Volicon Observer brand in the broadcast segment and uncovering new opportunities for Volicon's state-of-the-art digital video archiving and streaming solutions.
Asebrook said: "Volicon is a rising star in the broadcast video monitoring field, and it's exciting to join a company with such strong growth potential.
"As the economy recovers and broadcasters continue to adapt to new technical realities, the opportunities for a solution of the calibre of the Volicon Observer are unlimited.
"Volicon has many strengths on its side: solid management expertise, architectural excellence, and an impressive customer base. I'm looking forward to helping take the company to the next level in market leadership," he said.
Over a 15-year career, Asebrook has served in product leadership roles in both Boston and Silicon Valley. Prior to joining Volicon, Asebrook was Technical Product Manager for Monster Worldwide and Avid Technology.
At Avid, Asebrook was Product Manager for Avid Interplay, the company's enterprise broadcast digital asset management system, and also managed a range of digital nonlinear video editing software products, including Avid Liquid, Xpress Pro and Studio Toolkit.
Prior to Avid, he worked in various positions at Pinnacle Systems, where his roles included product management for the TARGA 3000 nonlinear editing suite. Asebrook holds a BA in communications from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
At Volicon, Asebrook will be responsible for product marketing and product management of the Volicon Observer in the broadcast space, which includes outbound marketing activities (demos, events, public relations etc...), as well as inbound product management including product design and pricing.
Julius Perl, Vice President of Marketing, Volicon, said: "We are thrilled that someone of Mike's level of expertise in product marketing and management is joining our team.
"Mike has just the right mix of skills and experience to help us expand our presence for traditional applications of the Observer, such as advertising verification, compliance, and quality assurance, as well as build new opportunities in such verticals as media asset management, video sharing, content repurposing, and video analytics."
