BBC CONSIDERS SPONSORSHIP
THE BBC is understood to be considering plans to launch a new business dedicated to commercial sponsorship.
The move is believed to be just one after a number of initiatives designed to plug a funding shortfall in national events such as the BBC’s 'Young Musician of the Year'.
While the BBC has dismissed reports that commercial sponsors would be rewarded with on-air endorsements and visible logos, current BBC guidelines allow a ‘single’ visual on-screen reference and two verbal ones.
The BBC has stated that if a sponsorship unit were to be established it would operate within current guidelines.
