Digital Rights Group Recruits Undercover Dads For International Family Audiences

Leading London-based distributor Digital Rights Group (DRG) has announced that it has secured rights to the brand new entertainment format Undercover Dads, created by award-winning UK producer Tiger Aspect Productions.
Undercover Dads sets fathers a unique challenge - to go into their own homes in disguise as their kids' Nanny and avoid detection for two days - pulling the ultimate prank and getting to know their kids better in process. Distributed under the Zeal Entertainment brand, DRG will handle global (excluding USA) rights for the format and the finished series, produced by Tiger Aspect for BBC2 in the UK, where the show recently launched.
The Undercover Dads format was co-created by Jo Killingley and Howard Davidson, Head of Entertainment Development at Tiger Aspect Productions, the company behind global hits including Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Make Me a Supermodel, Cook Yourself Thin. Charlie and Lola and Robin Hood.
Howard Davidson said: "Undercover Dads has been such an exciting project to develop and produce. Watching the initial idea make it from the page to the screen and then to see the show becoming a hit is so gratifying for all concerned. We are looking forward to working with Digital Rights Group and making sure that Undercover Dads becomes popular worldwide."
Andrea Jackson at DRG said: "Undercover Dads offers great entertainment for the family - combining fun, humour and jeopardy as the fathers attempt to avoid detection and emotion as they gain a unique "outside" perspective into their own families and find out what their children really think of them. Highlighting the strengths, weaknesses, trials and tribulations typical to family life throughout the world, the format provides truly fascinating viewing for international audiences - and we are confident it will prove hugely popular."
In Undercover Dads, children think they're taking part in a show called Mega Nanny, but what they don't know is that Mega Nanny is actually their father - in a wig, ladies clothes and a state-of-the-art prosthetic mask. After a day's training in walking, talking and acting like a lady, Dad must embark on a series of secret challenges, without getting caught, all filmed on location in the family home. For each challenge successfully completed, he wins activity prizes for the family.
Through the guise of Mega Nanny, the Dad will do things with his kids that he would never normally do; finding out what they really think of him and maintaining his cover amongst family and friends. At the end of the two days, Dad returns to the house - as Dad - and reveals the truth, undertaking a final test to find out if he has got to know his children better. If he has, he gets to join them on all those family activity prizes. If he fails, he's on homework duty for a month. Either way, he gets to spend more quality time with his kids.
