Digital Rights Group Wins Rights To Sell Me The Answer

Leading multiplatform distributor Digital Rights Group (DRG) has announced that it has fought off tough competition to win the format distribution rights to new entertainment show Sell Me the Answer.
UK network Sky1 has ordered 50 episodes of the hour-long show produced by Thumbs Up and fronted by former Blue Peter pin-up and Strictly Come Dancing star Gethin Jones. Sell Me the Answer is driven by a very simple, original idea. Contestants try to answer questions but if they don't know an answer they then enter into frenzied negotiations with a group of traders in an effort to find someone who says they know the answer. Then they have to buy it from them!
The fun of the format comes from the efforts of a single contestant to decide who knows what and who to trust and the attempts of the traders to be chosen and to talk they way into a chance of winning some money... irrespective of whether or not they actually know the answer! Sell Me the Answer is full of tension, trading, bluffing and excitement.
The quiz started on the radio in the UK, where it was awarded Gold in the Sony Radio Academy Awards, described as a "genuinely new and innovative format that provided sustained involvement for the audience and continuing opportunity for wider participation".
Ben Hall, DRG's new Creative Director, said: "We're delighted to have secured the format rights to this show worldwide - it's a powerful mix of cash prizes, suspense, audience power and potential deceit - all universal that are translatable and that travel well. We look forward to unveiling this title at MIP and making sure it becomes a big hit across the globe."
Andrew Hornett, one of the format creators, said: "We are new to the format business but we felt the team at DRG were right on the money with their marketing approach just ahead of MIP. We look forward to welcoming buyers from all over the world to the recording sessions which begin in April."
