BBC MediaArc install Media 100 844/X system

Media 100 have announced that BBC MediaArc, the creative agency within BBC Resources, is the latest UK company to install their 844/X editing and compositing system.
Following installation of the system later this month, BBC MediaArc will use 844/X on a wide range of projects – from channel branding to program content and design.
Key to BBC MediaArc was the need for a stable and robust QuickTime-compatible system that would tightly integrate with their Mac-based tools such as Adobe After Effects, a system that would offer the openness and flexibility of a desktop solution with the horsepower and speed of a black box configuration. Media 100 say the 844/X with its unique workflow combining editing with fast, unlimited-layer compositing and InstantMedia compatibility with any QuickTime application, fitted the criteria perfectly.
Commenting on the purchase of 844/X, Anthony Fisher, Designer at BBC MediaArc said: “In today’s increasingly competitive broadcast marketplace we need to deliver our projects on time and on budget. This typically involves using desktop machines that don’t always have the power that higher-end, more expensive systems offer. With the introduction of 844/X, BBC MediaArc will have the perfect balance of high-end speed with cost-effective working methods.”

The purchase was made through Media 100-authorised Soho reseller New Media Research.
