Sony Reference Monitors Win Battle Of The Brands In CheFF Group Test

Intervideo, London's longest established independent facility, has placed an order for Sony's BVM L230 monitor following a manufacturer shoot out at NAFTA hosted by CheFF, the Chief Engineers of Facilities Forum.
Gerry Wade (Technical Director) on Intervideo, said: "Following critical evaluation of product capabilities such as viewing angle, colour image quality and standard definition viewing the BVM-L230 from Sony was found to be the superior product and the closest in quality to a CRT Reference Monitor."
Vincent Eade, Product Manager of Sony Professional, said: "The BVM-L230 has been very successful for us and we are now introducing new sizes to the product range. By working closely with the facilities industry we have developed the TRIMASTER technology to ensure accurate colour reproduction, precision imaging and absolutely picture consistency on this monitor range.
The BVM-L230 from Sony achieves incredible image quality through three key devices; a high-grade customised LCD panel incorporates a 10-bit driver for smooth greyscale and colour transitions, a new precision high-purity LED backlight delivers wide reference-standard colour space, uniformity control and colour stability through the auto white-balance circuitry and a sophisticated display engine uses two state-of-the-art ICs employing accurate 12-bit output processing, one dedicated to I/P conversion and the other dedicated to highly accurate colour management.
CheFF represents the views of the UK TV facilities industry on engineering and operational matters. Its delegates are composed of chief engineers or senior technical representatives of the member companies. Its purpose is to provide a focal point for dialogue with the broadcasters, standards bodies, manufacturers, equipment suppliers and between its own member companies.
