High Flyers Win Award

A high-flying aerial camera company, FlyingTV, has been recognsied for its part in the team that won Best Sports Programme at January's Broadcast Awards in London.
The 2008 Grand National at Aintree was produced for the first time ever by an independent production company - Sunset+Vine - for BBC Sport and gained 10m viewers as well as plaudits from the Award judges.
"The coverage was excellent from all aspects," said one judge, who admitted that it was a hard-fought category with competition including the Olympics (BBC), F1 (ITV), Wimbledon Men's Final (BBC) and the Cheltenham Gold Cup (C4).
FlyingTV provided the aerial coverage for Sunset+Vine at Aintree filming 15 races live in three days using our purpose-built TV helicopter with crew Mark Walters, Matt Wyer and Mike Smith.
Working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority, they were able to gain permissions to get aerial angles previously unseen at Aintree.
This is the second time in just three years that FlyingTV has been part of the team to win this Award - in 2006 it was for ITV Sport's coverage of The Boat Race.
FlyingTV will be in action again this year at two more prestigious events: The Boat Race, London, Sunday March 29 and the Grand National, Aintree, April 2-4.
