Leitch unveil new router control panels

Leitch Technology Corporation have announced the launch of their new Alphanumeric Breakaway (ABA) Ethernet-enabled series of router control panels, designed to maintain all the functionality of traditional push-button routing control, while providing the superior flexibility of Ethernet control.
The RCP-ABAE series control panels, which are suitable for use with any Leitch routing system, include an RJ-45 Ethernet connector that allows users to control their router system over the Ethernet by simply 'plugging in' to any available hub on a LAN or WAN. While still providing the ease and speed of push-button control, the panels eliminate the logistical difficulty of running coax cable for control and monitoring from a distance.
“The impact these products will have on installation flexibility cannot be underestimated,” said Sim A. Kolliner, Leitch applications engineering manager and former broadcast engineer. “The ability to install remote switching at ENG receive sites and sports venues without having to depend on dial-up modem circuits is just one of the many advantages Ethernet-enabled router panels can provide to a broadcaster.”
The new 1 or 2RU panels feature easy-to-read alphanumeric displays and can be easily programmed using the Windows-based RouterMAPPER utility that is included with every programmable router control panel.
