RTV Slovenia Installs Gee Broadcast's Tapeless Production System

After a serious evaluation of the various options for their move to tapeless production, RTV Slovenia has chosen a new system based on Geevs Video Servers and Lightworks Editors to provide the fast efficient workflow they need for their headquarters in Ljubljana.
The mixture of SD and HD production, with fast turnaround, meant that quick editing of material in place on the central storage was an essential part of the solution.
The system configuration was designed and delivered by Interlab, a Lightworks and Gee Broadcast partner for Central Europe.
The system chosen by RTV Slovenia uses a Lightworks VIT HD/SD Multi-channel Ingest station - which is based on the Geevs Server - and a mixture of Lightworks Alacrity and Softworks editors. The Lightworks VIT provides ingest facilities without tying up edit suites thereby improving the overall productivity.
The systems are all connected together using a central SAN store for true shared access to all material.
For offline editing of High Quality HD productions, proxy SD clips are created by Geevs Proxy software from the Master HD material. Edits created offline in Softworks, using the proxy clips, can then be transferred to Lightworks Alacrity for conforming without having to re-ingest.
The whole system was delivered and installed in less than 8 weeks in order to provide facilities for productions as required by RTV Slovenia.
Bojan Bostjancic of RTV said: "The speed, efficiency and performance of the Geevs Lightworks system has enabled us to build a cost effective flexible multi-format HD and SD tapeless production system. The system is already in full use and further expansion is anticipated in the near future."
Gee Broadcast Systems has been supplying the UK and international broadcast market for over 20 years. The company's video servers and systems storage solutions enable customers to maximise their programming capability by running their broadcast operations more efficiently and cost-effectively.
Based on a broad experience of the broadcast industry and customer input and feedback, the Geevs range of customisable servers delivers a dramatic increase in workflow and a real return on investment.
Geevs servers come with a range of customer service, support and training options.
Lightworks is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gee Broadcast and develops editing systems for demanding film and TV production.
