Quip BV Reports Successful Broadcast Live & Video Forum

Quip BV, Broadcast Master Distributor for Leader Electronics Corporation in Europe, has reported strong interest in its range of test and measurement equipment at the newly-established Broadcast Live & Video Forum 2008. Integrating two formerly independent shows, the three-day event attracted a provisional total of 11,750 visitors, excluding booth staff, and was supported by 200 exhibiting companies.
"Leader was a regular exhibitor at both shows with our colleagues from British reseller Thameside TV," comments elQuip BV Managing Director Paul Vos. "They were both good in their way but the January/February timeslot certainly fills a more useful gap in the annual broadcast exhibition calendar than mid-way between NAB and IBC. The overlap with Integrated Systems Europe in Amsterdam was unfortunate and I hope the respective organisers can do something to avoid the clash in future years.
"There was a lot of interest in CINELITE which we demonstrated on the LV5800 multi-format monitor. CINELITE allows producers to determine camera exposure settings by measuring actual signal levels. This is important as cameras respond in different ways to local light intensity. With CINELITE, producers can use the full dynamic range of their cameras to achieve a high-contrast 'film look' if required in preference to the softer luminance gradient traditionally associated with television.
"Camera output is monitored on the LV5800's 1024 x 768 pixel TFT LCD screen. Hairline cursors are used to select the brightest and darkest points in the scene. At the press of a button, CINELITE shows the optimal exposure setting as an f-stop or a percentage value. The camera can then be adjusted for optimal exposure, reducing or eliminating the time needed to correct colour balance, gamma and contrast during post-production. The LV5800 allows four different points of interest on a live feed to be monitored simultaneously.
"Leader's LV5800 is the most powerful and affordable broadcast signal analyser on the market. Modules can be selected to suit each user's specific requirements without needing to pay for 'locked-off' hardware that they don't actually need. Leader plug-and-play modular test equipment is really easy to configure and to use."
Founded in 1978, elQuip BV specialises in providing high-quality products for broadcasters, post-production facilities, edit suites and electronic equipment manufacturers. elQuip is Broadcast Master Distributor for Leader Electronics Corporation in Europe.
