Leader LV5700A chosen by Thomson Broadcast

Leader's LV5700A multi-standard HD/SD waveform monitor has been chosen for use at Thomson Broadcast & Media Solutions' HD camera production plant in Breda.
The LV5700A will be used to align LDK 6000 and Viper FilmStream HD cameras, which are designed for high-end television programme production and electronic cinematography.
The Breda plant is one of the world's most advanced broadcast camera manufacturing centres and was already an enthusiastic user of Leader's 5152DA HD-SDI waveform monitor. The LV5700A was chosen for its ability to deliver the precision and repeatability essential in broadcast camera manufacture, particularly so in HD. Its 1024 x 768 pixel XGA TFT display screen was crucial to the choice, being a unique feature ideally suited to high resolution signal analysis.
Paul Vos, Managing Director of Leader's European Master Distributor, elQuip, said:"The LV5700A has received high acclaim among equipment manufacturers, programme makers, post-production facilities and broadcasters. Its combination of multi-format video and audio waveform display, vectorscope, eye-pattern and picture monitoring in a single compact unit has made this unit very popular for HD and SD applications." Leader's LV5700A is compatible with a wide range of HD-SDI video line, frame and field rates as well as both SD-SDI systems. Its analytical capabilities include transmission error detection, gamut error detection and data dump display. Video sampling rate can be switched automatically between 74.25 and 74.25/1.001 MHz in HD mode or to 13.5 MHz SD. In addition to extracting and analysing up to eight embedded audio channels, the LV5700A can output four channels of decoded audio.
An optional Eye Pattern Module offers selectable display modes comprising eye patterns, jitter and jitter-plus-histogram. Leader's unique and patented equivalent-cable-length measurement system is a standard feature of all LV5700A instruments. When linked to Leader's FS3018 Lighting Monitor via a wireless PDA, the LV5700A allows remote viewing of digitally-sourced picture, waveform, colour vectors and status data. Any spot on the picture can be selected via the PDA's cursor controls for numeric analysis of percentage YRGB colour component levels.
