Leader Electronics Receives Accolades From Broadcast Trade Journals

Leader Electronics has received awards from two leading broadcast trade journals. Both accolades were bestowed on Leader test instruments introduced to the European market at IBC2007.
Leader's CINELITE system was selected by TVB Europe journalists and their colleagues on The IBC Daily in the course of their coverage of the most innovative new product introductions. Winners of 'The Best of IBC2007' awards were announced in the October edition of TVBEurope. Leader's CINELITE was recognised as clearly showing the potential for its users to earn or save money. TVB Europe's judging panel was led by editor Fergal Ringrose, associate editor David Fox and contributor Christina Fox.
The second commendation won by Leader was bestowed on the LV58SER04 DVB-ASI monitor which received an IBC2007 Pick Hit award from Broadcast Engineering. A panel of independent judges toured the IBC exhibition floor for three days looking for innovative technology on behalf of the publication. The judging team then met to make its selections based on multiple criteria including the technical and financial improvements the product can bring to a facility's operation.
"These dual awards are a tribute to the creativity and experience of the Leader software and hardware engineering teams," said Paul Vos, Managing Director of elQuip BV, Broadcast Master Distributor for Leader Electronics Corporation in Europe.
"Leader has long enjoyed a high reputation for the reliability, digital repeatability and cost-efficiency of its broadcast signal generators and analysers. Modular product platforms such as the LV5800 have enabled Leader's designers to respond very efficiently to customer requirements in the fast-evolving broadcast market. More than mere innovation, Leader offers a way of future-proofing customers faced with new broadcast acquisition and transmission standards as well as expanding feature requirements."
Leader's CINELITE is an easy-to-operate software-based real time system which enables a television or digital cinema production team to get the best possible quality from a camera. The camera is connected via SDI cable or a digitising interface and displayed on a 1024 x 768 pixel TFT LCD screen. Hairline cursors then allow the brightest and darkest points in the scene to be selected.
CINELITE shows the optimal exposure setting either as an f-stop or, if preferred, as a percentage value, at the press of a button. The camera can then be adjusted for best possible exposure, reducing or eliminating the time needed to correct colour balance, gamma and contrast during post-production. When incorporated into the recently-announced Leader LV5800, CINELITE allows four different points of interest on a live feed to be monitored simultaneously.
A powerful new option for the LV5800 modular multi-monitor platform, Leader's LV58SER04 decoder module allows MPEG-2 compressed DVB-ASI signals to be decoded and displayed as a video waveform, video vector or rastered image.
It can decode high-definition 1080i and 720p at 50, 59.94 and 60 Hz as well as standard-definition 480i/59.94 and 576i/50. Other capabilities include display of transport stream bit rate, ETSI ETR-290-compatible errors, programme information, programme association table and programme map table. When operated in conjunction with Leader's LV58SER40 digital audio module, the decoder also allows MPEG-2 ACC, Dolby Digital (AC3) and MPEG-1 audio extraction and channel monitoring with signal level and lissajous waveform display.
