EDIROL Gear To Reach New Heights On Everest

The Alarm’s Mike Peters is just about to embark on the gig of a lifetime, taking a group of famous musicians to Everest to break the record for the highest ever concert! To mix and record this historic event he’ll take along the only piece of gear durable, flexible and portable enough to stand the conditions, EDIROL’s R-4PRO.
The Alarm’s Mike Peters has beaten cancer twice and, with a fresh outlook on life and energy that only that kind of victory can give you, has since been raising money for cancer research through his Love Hope Strength foundation. However, he’s not been raising it in the most traditional of ways – no sponsored walks or marathons here. Instead he’s arranged a series of gigs in some fairly unusual places.
“At first I was fairly naive about it and thought it would be a case of just taking a laptop,” said Peters.
“I realized that wouldn’t work so started looking at something that would be more robust and portable and that led us to the EDIROL R-4PRO. We read about its use in the field by various people and decided that it was what we needed. It’s very portable and quick to use and adapt to the situation. We’re using a mini PA at the gig and we can plug the R-4PRO in and go straight away – that’s the beauty of it. We are going to be doing Alarm hits, Squeeze hits, Stray Cats, The Fixx, all that. Everyone’s going to sing a few songs.”
“We need to record audio and we can do a mix on the R-4PRO internally away so it’s like having a mini studio. We can mix as we go so we can take advantage of all sorts of situations. We’re not going to just record the gig at base-camp but we’ll be doing songs along the way to base camp on a daily basis. iTunes are helping out as a sponsor and we’ll be selling songs that we make along the way through them, so as fast as we can make them they’ll be on iTunes! And that’s why the R-4PRO is so helpful because we can mix, edit do everything we want.”
