BTV Post Converts Stones' Hyde Park Gig

Post-production facility BTV Post was recently selected to frame rate convert the Rolling Stones' Hyde Park Gig over the summer for a DVD release later on this week.
The Stones recorded their concert in Hyde Park a week after their inaugural Glastonbury performance.
The gig was recorded in HD1080 at 25fps for TV and DVD release.
Eagle Rock wanted to find a better solution to converting the concert for digital cinema release.
BTV Post demonstrated Snell’s new Alchemist OD file-based standards conversion platform to convert the performance. Alchemist was used for the entire conversion, which dovetailed with BTV Post’s 4K Mistika post production pipeline.
"This sets a new benchmark for the conversion of Films for Television, and performance content for digital cinema, without ever needing to slow down or speed up again," said Jon Lee, chief technical officer at BTV Post.
"Working closely with Snell’s engineering team we have come up with workflows to get a low frame rate conversion that is virtually indistinguishable from the original."
BTV Post is a production facility and specialist in HD, 3D, and 4K content. The company delivers on behalf of the world’s biggest production companies across all genres, standards and formats.
In 2010 BTV Post opened a second facility in Soho,
London, aimed at putting it at the forefront of stereoscopic 3D, digital media services, and post-production.
The Rolling Stones concert will be on general release from US distributors SpectiCast from November 6 2013.
