'The Blaxorcist' Nominated For Best Short In Finland Competition
The Irish short film 'The Blaxorcist', which was written and directed by Edward King, has been nominated for the Espoo Cine Melies d'Argent Best Short Film competition in Finland.
The winning film will represent Espoo Cine at the Melies d'Or competition held at the Fantastisk Filmfestival in Lund, Sweden in September.
The Blaxorcist is a comedy about a black priest who is called upon to perform an exorcism on a young white girl whose soul has been possessed by soul.
The short was produced by Conor McMahon and Three Way Productions as part of the Irish Film Board's Short Shorts scheme, which aims to stimulate imaginative, cinematic work that can achieve high impact in minimal screentime. The Blaxorcist premiered at this year's Galway Film Fleadh and has also been selected for the Best First Short competition at the Dingle Film Festival.
The Espoo Cine Film Festival, which is in its 18th year, took place from 21 - 26 August 2007.
