Digidesign Wins TEC Awards For Pro Tools 7, ICON D-Command And Mbox 2

Digidesign was the recipient of three TEC Awards at this year’s annual Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Awards ceremony held during the AES (Audio Engineering Society) conference in San Francisco, California.
The Digidesign Pro Tools 7 software won in the Workstation Technology category, Mbox 2 took top honour in the Digital Converter Technology category, and the ICON D-Command worksurface triumphed in the Small Format Console Technology category. And for the first time in the history of the TEC Awards a Digidesign product made an appearance at a location other than the podium.
A Digidesign VENUE live sound environment handled all audio for a technically flawless event. Presented every year by the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio, the TEC Awards honour the individuals, companies, and technical innovations behind the sound of recordings, films, TV shows, and live performances.
“The TEC Awards focus on the large and diverse pool of design talent from our audio manufacturing community,” said Dave Lebolt, Digidesign general manager. “We feel extremely privileged and gratified to have captured awards for three significant products. Digidesign employees work really hard to be responsive to our customers, to innovate, and to pay attention to detail in developing quality products that our customers rely on for their creative work. Winning TEC Awards for these products reinforces our commitment to excellence and motivates us to continue to deliver for our users.”
This year Digidesign was nominated in four major categories and received TEC Awards for the following three products:
  • Digidesign Mbox 2 (Digital Converter Technology)
Mbox 2 is a next-generation, USB-powered audio/MIDI production system that features a wide range of connection options—including analogue, digital, and MIDI I/O—and delivers professional performance in a compact package.
  • Digidesign ICON D-Command (Small Format Console Technology)The Digidesign ICON integrated console environment is redefining the state-of-the-art in large-format recording and mixing technology. The D-Command worksurface packs amazing control and ICON-exclusive Pro Tools functionality into a medium-format console. Featuring dedicated, centre section panels for EQ and dynamics plug-in editing, as well as per-channel control over many processing functions, routing, and automation modes, D-Command provides powerful hands-on command over projects from a compact console.
  • Digidesign Pro Tools 7 Software (Workstation Technology) Pro Tools 7 software delivers a wealth of new features and enhancements, including significantly expanded recording and editing capabilities for audio and MIDI, greater mixing power and flexibility, enhanced efficiency, and improved ease of use. The result is a whole new set of tools that advances the art of audio production.
TEC Awards nominations are made by a panel of industry professionals, and are then voted on by subscribers of Mix magazine.
