ITN On Win Prestigious Award For 'On This Day In History'

ITN’s multimedia division ITN On won a prestigious Mipcom Mobile TV award for its production of ‘On This Day in History’ on Thursday night.
ITN won the ‘Best Repurposed Content from Existing Film or TV Property’ category fighting off strong international competition from Fox’s 24 mobisodes, CNBC’s mobile news, MTV’s Barrio 19 and Sans Transition by Canal in France.
On This Day in History is a 90-second video feature for every day of the year making use of the wealth of classic video in ITN Source’s moving image library which dates back to the beginning of film in 1896. The ITN On production unit which specialises in creating specific content for mobile phones and new media platforms has taken the raw footage and produced mini programmes with high class graphics and well thought through scripts. The 365 features - including one for leap year - is updated every year covering world issues from the Tsunami disaster to the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the invention of the supermarket trolley.
A spokesperson for the judges commented: “The Jury chose ITN On as the winner of the category because we believe On This Day in History has ‘longtail’ potential. ITN’s made a very well produced and compelling product for the mobile marketplace.”
