ITN Multimedia links up with T-Mobile to produce World Cup Channel

While England’s football team are warming up for the World Cup in Germany this year, ITN Multimedia has announced the launch of the T-Mobile World Cup channel.
This exclusive, 24-hour made-for-mobile channel will make sure T-Mobile customers do not miss out on anything before, during or after the tournament.
ITN Multimedia will produce the specially packaged World Cup channel for five weeks, from early June until the end of the World Cup. This exclusive channel for T-Mobile customers is the ideal way to see all the goals and highlights from every game while on the move.
The channel will feature England and Tournament news wraps every 30 minutes from a dedicated sports unit in ITN Multimedia. It will also feature news stories from ITN crews in Germany who will be out mingling with the fans.
Using content from ITN Archive, the service will include profiles on all 32 participating countries that will be updated as the tournament progresses. The channel will also feature Football Top Fives with rundowns on up and coming players, legendary players, sexiest players etc.
Nicholas Wheeler, Managing Director of ITN Multimedia, said: “The experience with our news channel is that TV on mobile is really beginning to take off now so it is great be involved in this innovative new project creating a channel around a major event for a short period. We have some great content to mix in with T Mobile's on the pitch action. It opens the door to whole raft of new ideas for our established production unit."
T-Mobile's head of marketing, Phil Chapman, added: "As a major sponsor of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany, T-Mobile is committed to bringing fans closer to the ‘greatest show on earth’. We are delighted to be working with ITN Multimedia, with their strong record in mobile TV production, to bring this great service to our customers throughout the UK. ”
ITN Multimedia has pioneered the delivery of video content that is specifically produced and packaged for mobile and multimedia platforms. This is a rapidly expanding part of ITN’s business and an increasingly significant revenue stream.
