Astro brands with Eyeheight BB-2 logo inserters

Thirty-six Eyeheight BB-2 logo inserters have been chosen for installation in a new multi-channel Broadcast Centre at Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
The system was designed, installed and commissioned for Astro All Asia Networks by ATG Broadcast.
Astro is using the logo inserters for channel branding on locally originated channels.
Each Eyeheight BB-2 can hold two independently-controllable layers of logo insertion on an integral 5 megabyte non-volatile logo store with a capacity of 150 logos at 1/64th frame size.
A separate SDI input is provided for logo acquisition at full 10 bit resolution. Features of the BB-2 include 10 bit logo video and key, and instantaneous video/key grab.
Other Eyeheight equipment selected for Astro's Cyberjaya Broadcast Centre are three DK-3 downstream keyers with background, fill and key inputs, and three AM-2E dual-channel AES audio mixers with embedded audio.
The DK-3s can be routed into any of the transmission circuits, allowing staff in Astro's Local Playout suite to insert captions easily on any output.
Designed for voice-over applications, Eyeheight's AM-2E audio mixer has two AES inputs and extracts one embedded AES group to produce four internal audio channels.
The AM-2E outputs two AES feeds, replacing embedded audio on the input video with two remixed channels of audio.
Voice-over is achieved by programmable main-channel-dip and fade times.
Alan Pimm, ATG Broadcast Sales Director commented: "The Eyeheight modular architecture offers a high packing density; in this case six logo inserters in a 1U box. We were able to develop a custom solution allowing each logo inserter to be controlled separately by the Omnibus automation system. The Astro Broadcast Centre is one of the biggest, and certainly the most modern, in South-East Asia. Modularity was crucial to the entire design as it will enable easy scaling in line with Astro's future requirements."
Astro is the region's leading cross-media operator with direct-to-home satellite television services in Malaysia, Brunei and soon in Indonesia.
It is also the leading commercial radio broadcaster in Malaysia and a major publisher of TV Guide and Lifestyle magazines.
Astro subsidiary Celestial Pictures owns the world's largest Chinese film library.
Its digitally remastered films are released internationally through theatrical, video, television, and new media distribution, and the Celestial Movie channels.
The strength of these complementary brands has extended into interactive and multimedia services including provision of content for mobile telephony. Astro operates out of the All Asia Broadcast Centre, a fully integrated digital broadcast and production complex in Kuala Lumpur.
Founded in 1992, Eyeheight specialises in broadcast-quality television equipment.
All Eyeheight systems are based on a standard modular platform for easy connection to other products in the range and to external automation.
Based in Britain, Eyeheight is active in the Americas, Asia, Australasia and Europe through a worldwide network of specialist resellers.
