Leitch Technology scoop prestigious award at China's BIRTV

Leitch Technology, a leading provider of HD/SD solutions for professional digital video, today announced that its X75 HD M-PATH multiple-path converter/synchronizer was honoured by the Beijing International Radio, Film and Television Equipment Exhibition (BIRTV) with a BIRTV Award for Outstanding Product.
The award follows earlier acclaim for the X75HD at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention last April - the X75HD received the 2005 NAB Award for Innovation in Media (AIM), the TV Technology STAR Award (Superior Technology Award Recipient) and Broadcast Engineering magazine's Pick Hit Award.
"We are privileged to receive this award as it underscores Leitch's continuing commitment to fulfilling our customers' needs with products for HD/SD hybrid environments," said Stephen Wong, Leitch’s Vice President of Asia-Pacific operations. "We are honoured to receive this year's award among the competitors."
The judges of the BIRTV Product Awards are all top authoritative Chinese broadcast and film experts, making it a contest with the finest professional broadcast technology evaluation. All exhibits go through rigorous analysis and comparison, before the prizes go to the most anticipated products and the most excellent technology adoption projects. The awarded technologies and products serve as directives for the entire industry, making the BIRTV awards of paramount importance for the broadcast and film industry in China.
The uniquely versatile X75 combines SD to HD upgradeability with up/down/cross conversion, SD/HD frame sync and extensive video and audio processing capabilities all in a space-saving 1RU package, allowing broadcasters to do much more with less equipment. Video processing features include simultaneous upconversion and downconversion with aspect ratio conversion for hybrid standard- and high-definition facilities; level/colour proc amp control; optional 3D adaptive color decoding with time base correction; and optional noise reduction.
The X75's 16 channels of internal audio processing include timing with video for lip sync corrections; level control; A/D and D/A conversion; embedded audio processing for both SDI and HD-SDI serial digital signals and integrated DolbyR decompression.
