Wave Central, a Domo Broadcast Company specialising in wireless video systems for broadcast, live production and sports, has been named a recipient of a 2026 Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award for its work on FPV drone camera systems for live sports coverage.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) recognised Wave Central alongside Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), Proton and Above Media for their contributions to the development and deployment of first-person-view (FPV) drone camera systems for live sports television.

The award recognises the growing role of FPV drone technology in live sports production, where high-speed aircraft, compact broadcast cameras and low-latency RF transmission can deliver immersive, athlete-following shots that would be difficult or impossible to achieve using conventional camera platforms.

The Academy specifically highlighted the maturity of the technology and its wider application during the 2026 Winter Olympics.

FPV systems allow production teams to combine the manoeuvrability of drones with broadcast-quality acquisition and wireless transmission, opening up new options for capturing fast-moving sporting events.

The recognition marks a further step in the development of drone-based live production technology, as broadcasters and sports producers increasingly explore aerial camera systems capable of delivering more dynamic and immersive coverage.
