Soho Editors launches New York office

As part of its global expansion, Soho Editors announced today the opening of a New York office.
Based on the Soho Editors brand and business model, the New York office will recruit and place freelance editing, compositing and sound design staff in production and post-production companies across the US. The New York office will be managed by David Gater, a former editor with 10 year's experience in the film and television industry.
USA Managing Director, David Gater, commented: "I had been looking to set up an agency in New York for some time. When I met Brian Cantwell (General manager, Soho Editors UK) at NAB this year it was very apparent that there was a potential for a partnership and over the next few weeks (and a few thousand air miles) Soho Editors New York was born."
Gater added: "It made a lot more sense opening with an international reputation already in place and an extensive list of international talent we could draw upon. This partnership has enabled us to hit the ground running and will no doubt accelerate the growth of Soho Editors NY and the international brand over the coming months and years."
Soho Editors NY is currently recruiting editors, compositors and sound designers to service their rapidly growing client base. Almost before Soho Editors NY was up and running it was approached by Hat Trick Productions (UK) to assist with the post on a project that they were shooting in New York.
Jamie Goldstein, formally of NBC/Universal and Broadway Video, has signed on as head of bookings for Soho Editors NY. The response she has received from various facility booking departments in NYC and editors alike has been extraordinary. She's already been approached by many of them to discuss the upcoming projects that they would like Soho Editors to handle.
The company is being set up using the same model as Soho Editors UK and Ireland.
Brian Cantwell said: "It has always been one of our goals to open in the USA, so when I caught up with David at NAB, (who had worked with us in the UK as an editor for three years) the synergies were obvious. Our global expansion is now moving ahead as planed and we have our targets set for the coming twelve months.
"Starting the expansion with the office in Dublin has worked perfectly. Bob Caldwell Soho Editors Managing Director for Ireland has ironed out many of the kinks in our original plan ensuring an easier path forwards for other regions. In short we are all delighted!"
