Digital Media Centre first to use Adstream in Europe

The Digital Media Centre (DMC), a premier digital media facilities dedicated to multi-lingual broadcasting, has become the first broadcaster to use Adstream in Europe for its end-to-end digital commercial delivery services.
Located in Amsterdam, the DMC is one of the first of a number of broadcasting companies to offer this complete digital service through Adstream. Adstream provides a 100% digital workflow between the DMC, agencies, postproduction facilities, its clients and its media-scheduling department at IDS, allowing copy to be received within two hours of booking.
Following a 10-fold increase in the delivery of commercials for the Extreme Sports Channel alone in 2004, the installation of Adstream services has been a key factor in streamlining a burgeoning DMC's production processes.
"We had a very successful year in 2004 and Adstream validated and sent over 700 taped commercials in that time," said Jean-Louis Lods, DMC Head of Broadcast Operations and Post Production. "We initially selected Adstream due its strong links with the BACC.
"Since integrating their services we have been able to offer our clients an improved facility with a speedier turnaround. Now we can continue to drive our business forward safe in the knowledge that as bookings increase we can maintain the commercial play out."
Using Adstream to access associated data and view footage from the desktop, commercials being aired for companies such as Extreme Sports Channel are not returned to tape at any point from post house through to broadcast.
With less room for error, users at all levels benefit from both the order tracking facility and the 24-hour cut in delivery times, encouraging further use of this quick and easy-to-use delivery system.
On receipt, the DMC performs a number of its own quality control checks during ingestion of the digital files directly into its automation systems, saving approximately 15 minutes per commercial compared to taped versions.
