CINE WESSEX CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF FILMING

CINE Wessex, a television and video facilities company based in Winchester, are celebrating their silver anniversary this year.
David Bowerman, founder of Cine Wessex said: “The fact that we offer end-to-end solution – from crews and equipment hire, to editing, graphics and duplication – means that many clients have been with us for years. And this year, as in previous ones, production companies have won IVCA awards for programmes creating using Cine Wessex people and facilities.”
Although, Bowerman adds: “The industry is tremendously different from 1976. Back then everything was shot on film - portable video equipment hadn’t come in then.”
The company grew steadily during the 1980’s filming ‘Tomorrow’s World’ and covering the Falklands conflict. The following decade saw rapid expansion for the business as the recession put many companies in the television and video industry out of business.
Bowerman adds: “In 1992 my years of experience filming in Africa came in useful when I was asked to shoot and edit a video for the Jane Goodall Organisation. We filmed the largest movement by air of chimpanzees to their new sanctuary in French Congo.”
Today Cine Wessex aims to maintain a balance between their corporate and broadcast clients. Founder David comments on their success, putting it down to three things: “We’ve always put customer service first. We employ expert people and we’ve never been afraid to invest in new technologies to deliver a better service.” (AMcE)
