Gravity Media Powers Red Bull Rampage 2026
Gravity Media has delivered a bespoke flypack production system and RF camera coverage for Red Bull Rampage 2026, one of the world's toughest freeride mountain biking events.
Gravity Media USA's flypack specialist and Technical Project Manager, Marshall Lucas, led the on-site operation in Virgin, Utah, supplying a self-contained flyaway production setup and specialist cameras to meet broadcast needs in a remote desert location.
Drawing on expertise in RF, live coverage and flypack solutions, the company provided the technical backbone and production capabilities required for a complex live event where no permanent broadcast facilities exist.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, Red Bull Rampage brings elite freeride riders to Utah's steep sandstone cliffs. Competitors build their own lines down the mountainside, taking on technical descents, rugged terrain and drops of more than 600 feet.
With no fixed infrastructure on site, the live production posed distinct challenges. The flypack was transported, installed and configured on site to operate reliably despite limited power and connectivity.
The system functioned as a portable control room, uniting video switching, audio, replay and communications in one integrated workflow. Stable signal paths and clear comms kept the show connected across a vast course where the terrain left little room for error.
This year's coverage included five RF handheld cameras stationed around the mountain, plus RF infrastructure supporting a live FPV drone feed to deliver immersive, creative perspectives.
The team also deployed the EVS XtraMotion AI solution, transforming standard camera feeds — including RF units and the FPV drone — into ultra-smooth slow-motion sources in real time, enhancing storytelling and replay throughout the broadcast.
Marshall Lucas, Gravity Media's Technical Projects Manager, said: "Delivering live production in a location as remote and challenging as Red Bull Rampage requires careful planning, technical expertise and a system that can be relied on when it matters most. Our specialist flypack and RF specialist cameras enabled the team to bring essential broadcast capabilities directly to the remote venue, helping ensure the production could operate effectively despite the demanding environment."
Deployments such as Red Bull Rampage highlight the importance of flexible, dependable broadcast infrastructure in challenging environments. From major sporting events to remote productions worldwide, Gravity Media provides the adaptable solutions and technical expertise needed to support complex live broadcasts.
