Crescent Selects Brompton Tessera

News Image
Brompton Technology is powering the expansive LED volume at Crescent, Inc.’s Digi-Cast HANEDA STUDIO in Tokyo, Japan.

Designed as a state-of-the-art virtual production space, the facility couples one of the world’s largest LED volumes with Crescent’s own motion capture, volumetric video and photogrammetry systems.

At the centre of the studio is a 41.5m-wide by 10m-high main LED wall, supported by two movable 6m by 6m side walls and an approximately 23.5m by 15m LED ceiling. Split into nine individually height-adjustable sections, the ceiling can be reconfigured to suit different shoots. The main wall uses next-generation AUO LED panels with a 1.95mm pixel pitch and 2,000 nits of brightness, with AUO P3.9 panels on the side walls and AUO P5.2 for the ceiling.

The full LED environment is driven by 27 Brompton 4K Tessera SX40 processors and 57 Tessera XD 10G data distribution units, delivering the processing backbone for the studio's large-scale, highly adaptable setup.

The LED stage is part of Crescent’s broader ‘Link-All’ philosophy, which brings the company’s imaging technologies together under one roof. Alongside virtual production, the facility offers motion capture, volumetric video and photogrammetry, with studios designed to interoperate in real time. Productions can also access an end-to-end workflow spanning previs and techvis, scene and asset creation, and the final shoot.

The wider Digi-Cast HANEDA STUDIO development comprises a dedicated LED Stage building and a separate Production building, reflecting Crescent’s objective to create a complete digital production environment rather than a single virtual stage. The original blueprint included dedicated spaces for volumetric video, photogrammetry and motion capture, plus audio recording and pre-visualisation facilities.
