Kanal 75 Upgrades Stockholm Studio With INFiLED LED Wall
Kanal 75 has upgraded one of its Stockholm production studios with a permanent LED wall from INFiLED, replacing an ageing rental display as part of a project designed to enhance its live production capabilities and support new programme formats.
The broadcaster, which produces more than 14 hours of live sports programming every day for Swedish and international audiences, selected INFiLED's DBmk2 Series after evaluating solutions capable of meeting the demands of its high-volume production environment.
Studio manager Christian Bruns led the search for a replacement that would provide greater reliability while giving the production team the flexibility to experiment with new content formats, including live-on-tape productions and more creative virtual backgrounds. After seeing INFiLED technology demonstrated at IBC and the NAB Show, and following a recommendation from a broadcast industry contact, Kanal 75 selected the DBmk2 Series in collaboration with INFiLED's Swedish team.
The installation comprises a 2 x 8m curved LED wall built from a combination of flat and 10-degree curved DBmk2 panels to create a gradual 90-degree arc at one end of the display. Driven by a Novastar MX40 Pro LED processor, the new setup is designed to provide greater depth on camera while offering increased flexibility for camera positioning across different production formats.
The display incorporates INFiLED’s CBSF technology to maintain consistent colour temperature across a 160-degree viewing angle, while M2 chip technology is designed to minimise moiré effects and colour shifting when filmed by broadcast cameras. ArmorLED technology provides additional protection for the LEDs in a busy studio environment, and the display offers a claimed contrast ratio of 10,000:1 for improved image detail.
Installation was completed in just two days, including calibration and testing, with INFiLED providing on-site technical support throughout the project. The company said features such as the quick-lock cabinet system, arc adjustment slider and pre-connection magnets helped reduce installation time while ensuring accurate alignment of the curved display.
The completed installation provides Kanal 75 with a permanent LED production environment capable of supporting its daily live broadcasts while enabling the production team to move between live video, graphics, still images and experimental backgrounds without reconfiguring the studio.
"We're really grateful that we teamed up with INFiLED. The sales team and technicians have been more than helpful throughout the project. We feel really confident in this product and we'll keep on developing and evolving our TV shows," said Christian Bruns, studio manager, Kanal 75.
