Studio RRD Powers Pacha New York

News Image
As Pacha New York unveiled its first summer season in the city, the venue launched with a purpose-built lighting system designed to meet exacting creative and technical demands. Drawing on The Pacha Group’s 50-plus years in global nightlife, the Brooklyn outpost merges the brand’s international heritage with a distinctly New York identity.

Developed in close partnership with the venue’s production team, the new rig centres on Ayrton Veloce fixtures paired with MA Lighting grandMA3 control. Studio RRD supplied, integrated and installed the system, working with ACT Entertainment, the exclusive North American distributor for both Ayrton and MA Lighting.

For Studio RRD, the project reflects its shift from an events-led supplier to a broader installations and dry-hire partner.

Delivered against a compressed schedule ahead of the venue’s highly anticipated opening, Studio RRD coordinated closely with ACT to secure equipment while accommodating evolving design needs. The final specification features 34 Ayrton Veloce fixtures, together with an MA Lighting grandMA3 full-size console, a grandMA3 light console and a grandMA3 Processing Unit XL. Given the calibre of touring artists and lighting designers expected at Pacha New York, the choice of grandMA3 was effectively preordained.

The venue's outdoor environment demanded robust, IP65-rated luminaires able to endure New York’s heat, rain and changeable weather while still delivering premium output for headline talent and guest designers.

Studio RRD strongly advocated for Ayrton during budget reviews, a case bolstered by The Pacha Group’s familiarity with the brand from its flagship Ibiza club. That experience provided confidence for the client and production teams and ensured continuity with the group’s global production standards.

Beyond Veloce, Studio RRD's broader work with Ayrton has deepened its confidence in the manufacturer’s portfolio. The company frequently deploys Rivale fixtures to augment Pacha shows and has fielded requests for Ayrton Kyalami units on other projects—further validation of the brand’s suitability for demanding entertainment settings.

Pacha New York's programme underscores the need for a flexible yet consistent technical backbone. The venue hosts major touring artists and DJs, often welcoming external lighting designers, so the rig must accommodate a wide range of creative approaches without sacrificing reliability or performance.
