Providius Adds Native Support

Nevion, a Sony Group Company, has announced that Providius has added native support for its eMerge IP media fabric to the Network Visualization & Real-Time Telemetry (NVRT) platform.

The integration brings live telemetry from eMerge switches and service data from Sony’s VideoIPath media orchestration platform directly into NVRT, providing broadcast and media organisations with a consolidated view of their IP infrastructure and the services running across it.

Part of Sony's Networked Live ecosystem, eMerge is designed for broadcast LAN and WAN applications and is pre-integrated with VideoIPath. The switch family supports software-defined media networks that combine deterministic control for professional live production with the flexibility and scalability of IP-based infrastructure.

By incorporating eMerge into NVRT, Providius extends its network monitoring capabilities across all-IP and hybrid IP/SDI broadcast environments. Engineering and operations teams can visualise route paths through the switching fabric, check that traffic is following expected routes and identify unexpected paths or routing issues.

The integration also uses flow labels from VideoIPath, allowing operators to identify active media flows by service name rather than relying solely on IP addresses. This is intended to simplify network investigations and help teams trace issues affecting specific media services.

Additional capabilities include real-time Precision Time Protocol (PTP) visibility and detailed interface statistics from eMerge switches. These cover bandwidth utilisation, port activity, errors and other network performance indicators.

The combined data is designed to help operators identify potential congestion, timing issues, interface faults and abnormal network behaviour before they disrupt live production workflows.

By bringing switching telemetry and media service information into a single operational view, the integration aims to give broadcast engineering teams greater insight into network performance and help them maintain the reliability of mission-critical media services.
