Cobalt Digital's Pacific Range Clinches Two Future Best Of Show Awards

Cobalt Digital has collected two Best of Show accolades at IBC, with TV Tech and TVB Europe each recognising products from the company's PACIFIC compression range.

The signal-processing specialist, a founding partner of the openGear initiative, adds the honours to its expanding awards roster.

TV Tech's award went to the PACIFIC 9992-ENC combined with the PACIFIC ULL-DEC-SAT-DEMOD option, while TVB Europe selected the PACIFIC 9992-ENC-INDIGO encoder paired with the PACIFIC ULL-DEC decoder.

Future's Best of Show Awards spotlight the most innovative and influential technologies demonstrated at IBC. Entries are judged by experienced engineers and industry experts on innovation, functionality, feature set, value, and their potential to meet the evolving needs of the broadcast and professional AV markets.

TV Tech highlighted the benefits of Cobalt's PACIFIC 9992-ENC with PACIFIC ULL-DEC-SAT-DEMOD for broadcasters facing the challenges associated with the shrinking C-Band spectrum. The SAT-DEMOD factory option adds a DVB-S/S2 demodulator to PACIFIC ULL-DEC, enabling satellite signals to be decoded and output simultaneously via ASI and IP. The PACIFIC ULL-DEC can also operate in a hybrid satellite–internet environment using VSF TR-06-4 Part 7, allowing the internet to repair data corrupted in the space segment.

TVB Europe's Best of Show recognised the PACIFIC 9992-ENC-INDIGO encoder with the PACIFIC ULL-DEC decoder. Part of the growing PACIFIC line, the ULL-DEC is an upgradeable, software-defined broadcast decoder with an ST 2110/IPMX output option. This enables decoded content to be transported concurrently over SDI and ST 2110/IPMX, with a built-in frame sync providing a PTP-locked signal for ST 2110 workflows.
