Zero Density Unveils OGraf Studio, Open-Source HTML5 Graphics Suite
Zero Density has introduced OGraf Studio, an open-source, web browser–run HTML5 graphics creation suite built for the European Broadcasting Union's OGraf standard. Announced in Amsterdam on 9 September 2026 during IBC2026, the software is available immediately on GitHub and will be demonstrated on Zero Density's stand 7.B01.
The EBU’s OGraf specification defines a common, open approach to HTML5 broadcast graphics so that a graphic can be authored once and deployed across compatible renderers and production systems. OGraf Studio provides a visual environment to design, animate, validate and export OGraf-compliant packages, including data binding and keyframe editing, without having to code everything from scratch.
Developed as an open-source project in Zero Density’s GitHub repository, OGraf Studio gives graphics teams a consistent workspace to explore and adopt OGraf workflows. Creators can build lower thirds, scoreboards, tickers, full‑frame designs and reusable data-driven templates via a familiar, visual interface.
“By releasing OGraf Studio as an open-source project, we are giving broadcasters, designers and developers an accessible way to create, test and improve interoperable broadcast graphics templates. IBC is the ideal place to introduce this open-source project and invite the broadcast community to contribute”, commented Kuban Altan, CEO of Zero Density.
Key capabilities include:
- Platform compatibility: Built with TypeScript and Node.js, OGraf Studio can run from source, while single-executable builds for Windows, macOS and Linux let users launch it locally in their browser without installing development tools.
- Visual design environment: A WYSIWYG canvas with layers, grouping, guides, rulers, snapping, clipping and responsive layout aids supports precise, in-browser authoring.
- Detailed animation control: Create independent tracks for individual properties with per-key easing and curves, local loops and freely movable OGraf steps.
- Data-driven graphics: Bind data fields to multiple properties across layers, enabling dynamic text, images, colours and gradients.
- OGraf preview: Simulate Start, pausable Step and End behaviours on the same timeline used for export to verify on‑air behaviour before deployment.
- Validation and export: Pre-save and pre-export checks verify packages against OGraf manifest, module and API requirements, covering both real‑time and non‑real‑time compatibility.
- Optional AI-assisted authoring: A localhost MCP server exposes create, validate, visual capture, certification, save and export tools to compatible AI‑assisted development workflows.
With the source code publicly available, users can inspect the implementation, tailor it to their needs and contribute enhancements via GitHub. The project also offers vendors and developers a practical reference environment for experimenting with OGraf creation and export pipelines.
Visitors to IBC2026 can see it in action at Zero Density’s Booth 7.B01.
