Canada Taps Rohde & Schwarz For 10kW HF Systems

After being chosen by the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) in September 2025 to supply modern 10kW high frequency (HF) transmitter systems on an accelerated timetable, Rohde & Schwarz Canada has completed delivery on schedule in March 2026.

The state-of-the-art HF equipment will enhance secure voice and data connectivity across multiple platforms, supporting urgent installation and operational timelines.

Rohde & Schwarz prevailed in a highly competitive procurement based on superior technical performance and demonstrated total cost of ownership. The contract covers advanced receiver/exciters from the R&S M3SR Series4100 family paired with powerful R&S SK4110 10kW amplifiers, which use an innovative liquid-cooling design to maintain optimal performance and reliability in demanding environments.

DND is leading system integration across platforms and facilities, with installation and training support from Rohde & Schwarz Canada and its partners. The systems accommodate a range of applications and protocols, including critical data communications via STANAG 5066, modern wideband waveforms, ALE4G and others.

The March milestone follows another key DND project delivered earlier in 2025 for modern 1kW HF systems.
