Gravity Media Unveils MT501

Gravity Media has introduced MT501, the latest addition to its UK outside broadcast (OB) fleet, engineered as a highly adaptable, scalable production vehicle for live sport and entertainment.

MT501 made its first outing at the 2026 Betfred World Matchplay in Blackpool as part of Sky Sports’ live Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) coverage. It is the first UK OB vehicle to carry Gravity Media’s new branding and has been named in memory of former colleague Mark Thomas, recognising his contribution to the business and the wider broadcast community.

Developed in close consultation with clients, the truck offers a multi‑purpose workspace that can be reconfigured to suit diverse production workflows, from major sporting fixtures to live entertainment, as operational demands evolve.

Designed and fully integrated by Gravity Media’s in‑house Systems Integration team, MT501 features 14 operational positions, including edit facilities, a large EVS area and a spacious two‑row production gallery. The unit supports multiple production models and can be tailored to changing client needs.

Its flexible architecture enables teams to expand and enhance output—handling audio or video sub‑cuts, accommodating house edit suites and digital content teams, and hosting hothead and EVS operators—while allowing engineering and operational areas to be separated to improve efficiency. The truck can also be reconfigured as production office space, reducing reliance on temporary site facilities and extensive cabling.

A standout capability is the fully connected second production control room. Sky Sports is currently using this space for edits and to facilitate a training environment during its darts coverage. Operating alongside the live show, it provides next‑generation talent with a real‑time simulation setting to learn, develop and build confidence within an authentic broadcast workflow.

Beyond its darts debut, MT501 has already shown versatility at the Isle of Wight Festival, where it worked alongside Gravity Media’s NOVA 109 production unit to house EVS operations, the main stage gallery and compliance functions—underlining its suitability for a wide range of live events.
