NFVF Brings Forward PESP6 Funding Outcomes To 15 August

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), an agency of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) administering the Sixth Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP6) for the audiovisual sector, has issued a progress update.

Following substantial progress since 3 June 2026, efficient use of resources, and continued engagement with industry stakeholders and the NFVF Council, the NFVF has brought forward the publication date for PESP6 Stream 1, 2 and 3 funding outcomes to 15 August 2026, earlier than the September 2026 timeline previously indicated.

Preliminary application checks have been completed and adjudication for Streams 1–3 has concluded. The due diligence phase for these streams will start on Monday, 13 July 2026. Adjudication for the Blockbuster category is in progress, with pitch sessions for compliant projects scheduled from 3 to 7 August 2026. Funding outcomes for the Blockbuster category will be announced separately by September 2026.

The NFVF acknowledges that unintended delays to PESP6 outcomes have affected applicants. The organisation says it is working tirelessly to expedite the remaining steps and remains committed to distributing outcomes and funding in August.

Despite the challenges, the NFVF Council and staff reaffirm their commitment to advancing the equitable growth of South Africa's audiovisual industry.

The NFVF received 1,787 funding applications — the highest since PESP began — highlighting both the team’s efforts and the broader need for funding support from sector stakeholders.
