Broadcast Solutions Acquires BFE
Broadcast Solutions GmbH has announced the acquisition of BFE Studio und Medien Systeme GmbH, strengthening its position as one of Europe's leading providers of broadcast, media and communications infrastructure.
The deal expands Broadcast Solution'’ service portfolio into studio and production technology, media IT, control centre and control room systems, as well as customised hardware and software development. BFE, which operates as an established independent brand with offices in Mainz and Vienna, will become part of the Broadcast Solutions Group. Its existing leadership team will remain in place, with Martin Dempf and Sven Hesselbach continuing as managing directors, alongside Peter Dinkel and Doris Hartl leading the Vienna operations.
Customers and partners are expected to experience no disruption, with ongoing projects, service structures and points of contact remaining unchanged.
"With the acquisition of BFE, we are consistently pursuing our strategic growth course. In recent years, there has been only minimal overlap between the two companies' service portfolios, but today they complement each other perfectly in technological terms. Together, we are creating the conditions to support our clients even more comprehensively in the future with the planning, implementation and further development of sophisticated broadcast, media and communications infrastructures," explains Stefan Breder, Co-CEO of Broadcast Solutions.
The companies said the transaction comes at a time of rapid change in media infrastructure, driven by increasing adoption of IP-based production systems, cloud technologies, automation and artificial intelligence. These developments are raising the level of integration required across modern broadcast systems and increasing the need for end-to-end technology partners.
According to the companies, the combination creates a more integrated offering across consultancy, engineering, system integration, implementation and long-term support, designed to support complex infrastructure projects across the media sector.
Broadcast Solutions brings expertise in large-scale broadcast infrastructure projects, including outside broadcast (OB) vehicle design and production, as well as IP-based production environments and cloud architectures. BFE contributes experience in bespoke studio and production systems, media IT integration, workflow design, and control room and control centre solutions, alongside custom hardware and software development.
The combined group said customers will benefit from expanded engineering capacity and broader technological capabilities for both national and international projects, while retaining the established structures and customer relationships of each company.
The acquisition is positioned as part of Broadcast Solutions' broader strategy to expand its engineering and technological capabilities, particularly in IP, cloud, automation, software development and AI-driven production workflows, as the company aims to support the ongoing digital transformation of the media industry across Europe and beyond.
