Rohde & Schwarz Expands Egypt ATC Voice Communications Modernisation Programme

Rohde & Schwarz is broadening its end-to-end air traffic control (ATC) communications programme for Egypt's National Air Navigation Services Company (NANSC), delivering upgrades that replace ageing radio equipment and strengthen the country’s voice communications backbone for enhanced security, availability and long-term operability.

Launched in March 2023 and expanded in April 2025, the multi-phase initiative covers radio ground stations and a central voice communication system across several locations. Rohde & Schwarz is providing the turnkey modernisation built around CERTIUM Radio R&S®Series5200 and CERTIUM VCS, including system design, installation, testing, training and ongoing technical support to ensure compliance with operational and regulatory standards.

The expanded programme equips NANSC with a standards-based platform that addresses legacy ATC constraints, supporting operational continuity, lower lifecycle costs and easier upgrades via software updates, thereby reducing the need for costly hardware replacements. With full turnkey delivery and long-term vendor support, the transition to a state-of-the-art operational baseline is designed to be seamless, while cybersecurity, availability and interoperability are significantly strengthened.
