AgileTV Builds Flexible, Vendor-Agnostic OTT Platform For Mediaset España

News Image
Most OTT platforms address immediate needs; the real challenge is staying adaptable. When Mediaset España set out to modernise its streaming estate, the brief went beyond a simple refresh: it needed a scalable, flexible foundation that could keep pace with shifting viewer behaviour and technology. AgileTV therefore aimed to deliver a platform designed not only for launch, but for continual innovation.

As OTT consumption accelerated, Mediaset España required a service capable of reliably serving millions across live and on-demand, while meeting broadcaster-grade performance and resilience. The scope covered the full media workflow—ingest, encoding, packaging, DRM and delivery—bringing together best-of-breed components without adding operational burden or creating vendor lock-in.

From day one, the technology had to accommodate new vendors, workflows and distribution models without costly replatforming or disruption to day-to-day operations. Flexibility was prioritised alongside throughput and reliability.

AgileTV implemented a modular, vendor-agnostic architecture with clear integration layers across ingest, encoding, packaging, DRM and content delivery. Open standards and abstraction ensured interoperability and allowed individual components to be evolved or replaced over time.

The collaboration began with consulting and project management before expanding into systems integration, engineering, backend development and ongoing operational support. This roadmap delivered milestones including a new VOD architecture, infrastructure upgrades and the launch of the Infinity App—introduced without interrupting existing services.

Today, Mediaset España runs a robust OTT ecosystem spanning live and on-demand experiences for millions of users. End-to-end DRM and resilient multi-CDN distribution provide secure, reliable streaming at scale.

Crucially, the vendor-agnostic foundation has enabled continuous improvement rather than periodic reinvention, helping the broadcaster adopt new technologies as the market evolves while optimising performance and cost without unnecessary risk.

What began as a delivery project has grown into a long-term partnership focused on ongoing optimisation and innovation.

The full case study details the architectural choices, integration strategy and operational model behind Mediaset España's OTT evolution, including how a flexible design has supported years of upgrades with no service disruption. Download the case study to learn how future-ready architecture can help broadcasters de-risk change and stay ahead.
