MBC STUDIOS Unveils Slate Of Saudi Film And TV Productions

MBC STUDIOS has unveiled a slate of upcoming Saudi film and television productions during its participation at the 79th Cannes Film Festival.

The announcement includes a mix of completed productions, projects preparing to enter production, and titles currently in development as the company expands its investment in Saudi storytelling and regional content creation.

Among the newly announced productions is Jahim Al-Abireen (Traveller's Hell), the first cinematic adaptation to emerge from MBC STUDIOS’ collaboration with bestselling Saudi author Osamah Almuslim, first revealed during the 2024 Red Sea International Film Festival. The film has completed production and is scheduled for theatrical release in 2026.

The project also marks the feature directorial debut of Hana Alomair.

MBC STUDIOS also confirmed plans to adapt Almuslim’s horror novel Spider’s Web into a feature film, with production expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. The story follows a group of Saudi female students in Riyadh who suspect their neighbour is hiding a dark secret.

In television, the studio is preparing to begin production on Khawf (Fear), a fantasy series based on Almuslim’s bestselling novel of the same name. The series centres on a young man who receives a mysterious book from a sheikh, triggering a series of terrifying events.

Osamah Almuslim, best-selling and renowned Saudi Novelist commented: "I'm delighted that we are moving forward with adapting more of my novels into productions that audiences across the Arab world are eagerly anticipating. These projects have received exceptional production support from MBC STUDIOS to ensure they meet the expectations of readers and viewers alike."

The company also announced several additional productions entering development this year, including Mafiosos, an action-comedy film about two Saudi brothers who become entangled with the Italian mafia during a business trip to Italy. The film is written by Saudi writers Nawaf Al-Muhanna and Hazem Al-Jaryan.

Another upcoming title is Forever, a romantic drama written by Saudi actress and writer Sarah Taibah, known for projects including Jameel Jiddan and Nemra Etnein.

MBC STUDIOS also confirmed plans to produce its first joint feature film with Saudi production company Telfaz11 by the end of the year. The partnership was first announced during the 2024 Red Sea International Film Festival.

Telfaz11 is known for Saudi film productions including Alzarfa, Sattar and Mandoob.
