Saudi TV opts for Pinnacle Systems' Deko 3000

Continuing its lead in Saudi Arabian broadcasting, Saudi TV, the Host Broadcaster for the First Islamic Solidarity Games, selected Pinnacle Systems for the world feed of the Games.
The national state broadcaster, which broadcasts across the Islamic World, delivered footage of the landmark, first-ever 54-nation Games using 13 Pinnacle Deko 3000 dual-channel units with full options for its distinctive on-air branding.
Ideal for major sporting events, Pinnacle’s products offer productions solutions that help broadcasters deliver compelling brands. Specifically, Deko 3000 delivers advanced effects including crawls and dissolve with up to eight channels of embedded audio I/O. Saudi TV’s system also includes the DekoObjex option to create a persistent single plane for multiple effects and the ClipDeko integrated clip-store option.
As the First Islamic Solidarity Games kicked off in Makkah on April 8, Saudi TV covered around 6,000 athletes in events at 20 venues distributed around additional host cities Medina, Jeddah and Taif until the dramatic closing ceremony on 20 April. In addition to logos and branding, Deko also created on-screen graphics such as names, updates and results.
“Saudi TV enjoys a long-standing and successful relationship with Pinnacle and we made no hesitation in selecting its advanced technology again to optimise coverage of this significant world event,” said chairman of the Games coverage at Saudi TV Dr Riadh Najm. “The great popularity of the Islamic Games with audiences and broadcasters alike meant strong on-air branding was essential and Pinnacle ensured the Saudi TV name remained associated with quality.”
This latest installation, undertaken by system integrator FGC, continues Pinnacle’s successful legacy at Saudi TV with existing equipment including Pinnacle Liquid non-linear editors, Pinnacle Thunder video production servers and various switchers.
“In the fast-moving and challenging live sports environment, it is critical that broadcasters have the tools to react quickly without compromising their creativity,” says Pinnacle managing director for EMEA, Richard Scott. “Deko real-time graphics systems deliver advanced workflows and visual effects through an intuitive user interface to ensure that, whatever the production challenge is, broadcasters build a compelling brand.”
