Ateme And Akamai Scale Nepal Premier League Live Streaming
Ateme has completed the migration of Dish Home Nepal's Nepal Premier League (NPL) streaming to its TITAN Live software running on Akamai Cloud, in close collaboration with Akamai.
The move equips Dish Home to deliver high-profile cricket fixtures at scale with improved video quality, greater operational resilience, and more efficient use of resources.
Dish Home, operated by Dish Media Network Ltd., is among Nepal's leading Direct-to-Home (DTH) and internet service providers and holds the streaming rights for the NPL, which it offers nationwide via the DishHome GO app. To meet rising audience demand and the exacting requirements of large live sports events, the company replaced its legacy on‑premises encoders with a cloud-native workflow built on Ateme’s TITAN Live.
The end-to-end setup sees TITAN Live deployed on Akamai Cloud, ingesting live feeds over SRT and RTMP and running fully redundant primary and backup pipelines to maintain service continuity during marquee matches. Streams are output in HLS and distributed through the Akamai CDN to provide the elasticity and reliability needed for peak concurrent viewership during NPL games.
Dish Home reports a higher Quality of Experience (QoE) for live sports audiences, with steadier streams and consistent picture quality during traffic spikes. The cloud approach has also reduced operational complexity and increased agility for managing live event workflows. Designed with growth in mind, the platform can support new sports properties and evolving streaming needs.
A high-availability architecture further mitigates risk for critical broadcasts such as playoffs and finals. Moving away from fixed on‑premises infrastructure has also helped Dish Home better align infrastructure usage with event-driven demand to keep costs optimised while retaining broadcast-grade reliability.
Amit Shakya, HOD – Broadcast & Communication Technology, Dish Home Nepal, said: "Delivering live sports at scale requires technology partners with proven experience in managing high-priority, high-concurrency events. Ateme’s track record with tier-one customers, combined with their ability to deploy on Akamai Cloud, made them the right choice for our Nepal Premier League streaming. Since the migration, we have seen a clear improvement in viewer Quality of Experience while optimizing operational and infrastructure costs."
The deployment underscores Ateme’s strategy to help broadcasters and service providers in both emerging and mature markets modernise live streaming at scale. Through software-defined architectures and strong cloud partnerships, Ateme aims to deliver scalability, operational simplicity and sustainable economics without sacrificing video quality.
