NAGRAVISION And Harmonic Unveil Scalable Watermarking-As-A-Service
NAGRAVISION, a Kudelski Group (SIX:KUD.S) company, has introduced a fully managed, event-based watermarking-as-a-service in partnership with Harmonic, expanding the companies’ long-standing collaboration.
The service is offered as an upgrade for existing Harmonic VOS® 360 Media SaaS customers or as part of the NAGRA Streaming Security portfolio.
With live sports piracy in sharper focus amid growing content fragmentation, the new model targets real-time, outcome-led protection for streaming revenues. The joint solution tightly integrates Harmonic’s VOS 360 Media platform with NAGRA NexGuard forensic watermarking to help rights owners swiftly pinpoint and disrupt illegal restreams during live events. It enables major live sports and OTT providers to activate A/B watermarking — increasingly required by rights holders — while cutting operational burden, complexity and cost.
By shifting to a managed, event-ready approach, the offer removes the need to deploy and maintain infrastructure for high-volume, low-latency switching. Delivered as a service on Harmonic’s cloud-native platform, operators pay only for events where forensic watermarking is used, while Harmonic oversees orchestration, scalability and service availability. The pay-per-event model is designed to reduce both per-event costs and internal engineering overheads.
"As consumers increasingly turn to streaming to watch live events, our customers need powerful security solutions that are effortless to deploy and deliver strong business outcomes," said Gil Rudge, Senior Vice President, Solutions and Americas Sales at Harmonic. "Through our long-standing collaboration with NAGRAVISION, we are delivering watermarking-as-a-service that eliminates complexity, lowers costs and activates only when needed. This is exactly the type of agile, event-based security model the market has been asking for."
