Harmonic And Mediacom Mark Live DOCSIS 4.0 Network Deployment Milestone
Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT), a market leader in cable broadband equipment, and Mediacom Communications, the fifth-largest cable operator in the U.S., have achieved a significant industry milestone with the successful deployment of Unified DOCSIS 4.0 technology on a live network. This production deployment moves DOCSIS 4.0 beyond lab testing into an operational environment, where it is currently delivering symmetric multi-gigabit speeds, extended spectrum capabilities, and enhanced upstream performance to customers in Moline, Illinois.
At SCTE TechExpo25, Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT) and Mediacom Communications, the fifth-largest cable operator in the U.S., will showcase cutting-edge DOCSIS 4.0 technology in a live network delivering symmetric multi-gigabit speeds to real-world customers. The production deployment elevates DOCSIS 4.0 from the lab into an operational, field-deployed environment delivering extended spectrum capabilities, multi-gigabit speeds and enhanced upstream performance. These advancements are essential for operators to gain competitive advantage and meet evolving bandwidth demands to support a growing range of connected devices and applications.
Mediacom is rolling out DOCSIS 4.0-based services in Moline, Illinois. At the heart of the solution is Harmonic's industry-leading cOS™ virtualized broadband platform with a PTP-less core and Unified Pebble-2 Remote PHY Devices (RPDs) in Ripple modular DAA nodes integrated with Mediacom's network in an ultra-high-split configuration. Harmonic's booth at SCTE TechExpo25 will feature a live feed with speed test and real-time analytics to highlight advanced broadband connectivity and enhanced subscriber experience.
"Our collaboration with Harmonic at SCTE TechExpo25 provides operators with a clear proof point that DOCSIS 4.0 is practical and accessible," said JR Walden, CTO at Mediacom. "This advanced technology brings significant benefits — such as blazing-fast speeds and greater reliability — helping to close the digital divide and ensure the communities we serve can thrive in the digital economy."
The breakthrough deployment will spotlight several key industry milestones, including:
• Real-world application: Going beyond lab settings, this deployment takes place in a fully operational network environment with real Mediacom customers, underscoring the deployment readiness of DOCSIS 4.0.
• Live analytics on the user experience: The deployment will test the speeds enabled by DOCSIS 4.0 through real-time analytics, as well as offer user experience insights and performance data on key metrics.
• Readiness for deployment: The deployment will showcase Harmonic's Unified DOCSIS 4.0 solutions seamlessly integrated with Mediacom's existing network, highlighting their readiness for widescale adoption by service providers of all sizes.
"Harmonic is driving the next chapter of broadband industry innovation with Unified DOCSIS 4.0 solutions and through meaningful collaboration with path-breaking operators like Mediacom," said Nimrod Ben-Natan, president and CEO at Harmonic. "The live showcase at SCTE TechExpo25 is a clear testament to how DOCSIS 4.0 is elevating the broadband experience. Our mission is to empower operators of any size to unlock the full benefits offered by this advanced technology to strengthen subscriber loyalty, expand market reach and create greater revenue opportunities."
