Lawo Unveils Converged Video And Audio Stagebox Edge One

Lawo has introduced its latest innovation, the Edge One, marking a new step forward in integrated audio and video connectivity for broadcast and professional AV workflows.

Designed as a compact and flexible stagebox, Edge One combines video and audio input/output capabilities in a single device. The system enables users to streamline operations by consolidating multiple functions into one unit, offering expandable connectivity while reducing equipment requirements.

The device features a range of connectivity options. On one side, it includes eight bi-directional HD-BNC connectors for SDI signals, which can be configured as either inputs or outputs, alongside four HDMI outputs—two of which can also function as inputs. Additional connectivity includes SFP ports for MADI I/O, GPI interfaces, USB-C audio, and Sync, Reference and Wordclock connections.

On the opposite side, interchangeable audio interface modules provide flexibility for different applications. Users can select from modules offering Mic/Line inputs, combined Mic/Line inputs with Line outputs, or a dedicated commentary module. These modules are designed for quick and easy swapping to support varied production scenarios.

Edge One also incorporates Lawo FLEX, a software-based licensing system that allows users to activate only the features they require. The unit is available in three base configurations—Audio, Video, and Audio + Video—with additional capabilities such as video signal instances, frame synchronisation, JPEG XS encoding/decoding, and advanced audio processing available as optional licenses.

The unit supports both rack-mounted installation (1U) and portable deployment, with a rugged design that includes protective rubber bumpers for field use.

"Despite its impressive specifications, Edge One is first and foremost about convenience and agility for broadcast and AV professionals," said Lucas Zwicker, Senior Director, Workflow and Integration, CTO Office at Lawo. "A single stagebox can be used to connect microphones, speakers, cameras, monitors, projectors and more."

Christian Struck, Senior Product Manager, Audio Infrastructure at Lawo, added: "Most productions require a limited number of audio and video connections, and some applications can be handled more efficiently by placing compact stageboxes close to the sources and destinations in a distributed fashion. This is where Edge One shines."

Edge One is built as a native SMPTE ST2110 device, supporting bandwidths of up to 25Gbps. It includes both RJ45 ports with PoE++ and SFP connectivity, while also offering functionality suited to non-networked environments, including audio de-embedding, shuffling and embedding.

The new stagebox will be showcased at the NAB Show 2026, taking place from 19 to 22 April in Las Vegas, where it will be featured alongside other Lawo innovations at booth C2108.
