Proton Launches PROTON PRO Miniature Broadcast Camera

News Image
German camera manufacturer Proton Camera Innovations has announced the launch of its new PROTON PRO miniature broadcast camera, as part of its latest product lineup at the 2026 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

Unveiled at Booth C.4740, the PROTON PRO expands the company's minicam portfolio with a model designed to deliver broadcast-grade performance in a compact, ready-to-deploy format.

Measuring 30mm by 30mm by 49mm and weighing 79g, the camera is built around a 2/3-inch global shutter sensor. This enables the full image to be captured simultaneously, reducing distortion during fast-moving shots and making it particularly suited to high-speed sports production.

The larger sensor also enhances low-light performance, offering improved light sensitivity and dynamic range for use in challenging environments.

The PROTON PRO includes a range of professional connectivity features aimed at broadcast workflows. These include genlock for frame-accurate synchronisation in multi-camera setups, a dedicated audio input for embedded sound capture, and an auxiliary connection for remote lens control via third-party controllers. A C-mount lens mount is also included, allowing users to select optics suited to different shooting scenarios.

The new model will be showcased alongside Proton’s existing range of miniature cameras, including the PROTON CAM, PROTON 4K, PROTON Zoom, PROTON Flex and Flex 4K, and PROTON Rain. While some of these models can be adapted with additional accessories, the PROTON PRO integrates key features directly into the unit, offering a more streamlined solution for users.

Marko Hoepken, CEO of Proton Camera Innovations, said: "The PROTON PRO rounds out our camera range, and with its larger global shutter sensor, it will prove indispensable in fast action productions. As with all of our cameras, the goal remains the same: to give creators the tools to capture shots that were previously impossible."

He continued: "Indeed, that's why we love attending shows like NAB. We'll have the opportunity to talk with customers about our full range of recent use cases which demonstrate the full potential of the ecosystem, including applications in 3D production environments, drones deployed in winter sports, helmet-mounted POV cameras, net and post cams in football, tennis and hockey, track car rigs, and even board-level mounting in chess matches. The common thread across every deployment is the creative freedom that Proton cameras grant users to frame unique shots that fully convey the excitement and emotion of the moment."
