Proton To Unveil New Camera Features At Hamburg Open
Ultra-miniaturised camera specialist Proton will use Hamburg Open to debut three new feature developments designed to expand the creative and operational flexibility of its product range.
Exhibiting in Hall B6, Stand 419, the company will introduce a new zoom-enabled version of its compact 4K camera, expanded lens compatibility, and a redesigned cabling approach aimed at improving deployment in demanding production environments.
The first of the updates is the evolution of the existing 4K model into the Proton 4K Zoom. The addition of zoom functionality allows operators to reframe shots without changing lenses or repositioning cameras, a significant benefit for productions working in tight or inaccessible locations while maintaining Proton’s characteristic immersive image quality.
Proton is also extending lens options across the range with the addition of C-mount compatibility, supplementing its established S-mount ecosystem. This move provides access to a broader range of lenses and gives users greater control over focal length, depth of field and visual character, helping Proton cameras integrate more easily with other systems on set.
The third enhancement addresses physical installation. Proton cameras will now be offered with connector-based cable interfaces instead of permanently attached connections, enabling easier replacement, reconfiguration and custom cabling for challenging installations.
These updates will be demonstrated alongside Proton's recently announced pan, tilt and crop feature, which allows resolution-perfect reframing within the image, as well as the wider product lineup including Proton Cam, Proton Flex, 4K Flex, Proton Rain, Proton Zoom and the high-speed Proton HFR.
Commenting on the announcements, CEO Marko Höpken said: "Each of these developments is about giving our users more freedom - creatively, technically and operationally - while staying true to the compact, purpose-built nature of Proton cameras."
He added: "By expanding zoom capability, lens choice and deployment flexibility, we're pushing ever further in crafting a camera range which doesn't just meet the realities of modern production, but actually pushes the boundaries of creative potential, all without adding complexity or compromising image quality."
