FOR-A Advances Software-Defined, AI-Powered Broadcast Development

FOR-A Corporation, long recognised for its precision-engineered broadcast hardware, is taking a major step in its evolution into a software-defined, AI-driven solutions provider.

The company announced today that it is expanding its capabilities in modern live production workflows, spanning cloud, IT infrastructure, and edge-based intelligence. FOR-A will showcase its latest innovations at NAB Booth #C4920.

Central to this transformation is viztrick AiDi, an on-device AI solution developed by Nippon TV, delivered globally by FOR-A and powered by NVIDIA AI infrastructure, including the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with 24GB GDDR7 and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Desktop GPU with 16GB GDDR7.

The collaboration represents a pivotal moment for FOR-A, positioning the company at the intersection of AI, software, and real-time live content creation. To support its software-defined workflow strategy, FOR-A has also recently launched the FOR-A IMPULSE® live production platform and the MixBoard® software switcher.

NBC Sports has implemented viztrick AiDi for its first commercial deployment, delivering live sporting events in 9:16 mobile-first formats with minimal delay. The platform enables real-time player tracking, face tagging, object recognition, 2.5D telestration, auto-score graphics, and motion data analytics – all without internet connectivity. Its automatic 9:16 cropping and intuitive auto-tracking functionality are designed to expand mobile streaming opportunities.

"We needed a way to produce high-quality 9:16 live content with virtually no delay," said Tim Canary, Senior Vice President of Engineering, NBC Sports. "viztrick AiDi does exactly that. The AI tracking is fast, accurate, and reliable – and when you need manual control, it’s instantly available. It gives us flexibility without sacrificing the pace or quality of our live coverage."

Delivering AI-driven cropping, tracking, and analysis in real time requires significant computational power. viztrick AiDi relies on NVIDIA accelerated computing to handle the intense workloads necessary to manipulate live video streams without latency. Unlike cloud-based solutions, it operates entirely on-device, ensuring consistent performance for outside broadcast and remote production environments.

"We created viztrick AiDi to be an AI that truly works on site," said Takayuki Shinoda, Lead Developer of viztrick AiDi, Global Strategy Headquarters, Nippon TV. "Seeing it adopted by NBC Sports confirms that our approach—practical, real-time, and production-focused – resonates globally. This collaboration with FOR-A and NVIDIA allows us to bring that vision to producers worldwide."
