WinCAPS Q-Live Catapults Live Subtitling To A New Level At IBC

Screen’s IBC stand has shown that their acquisition of SysMedia has been a catalyst for further market expansion with connected TV and HbbTV solutions taking a prime spot - but equally the company’s core offering of subtitling products has taken a significant step forwards.
WinCAPS has long been the preparation solution of choice for many of the world’s more demanding live subtitling applications, and the feature-rich productivity-focused Qu4ntum tools demonstrated at IBC look set to safeguard its position.
The launch of WinCAPS Q-Live incorporates feedback from live subtitlers and integrates the very latest speech recognition technology to deliver a clean user interface, valuable new features and enhanced efficiency. A significant advance is the extent to which WinCAPS Q-Live leverages the benefits of integrating Dragon Naturally Speaking, with improved throughput times and easy access to vocabularies. Dragon’s already high accuracy rate is complemented by Screen’s new Vocabulary Searcher which hugely reduces the time taken to augment the standard vocabulary with topical words to further underpin quality and accuracy.
Another noteworthy introduction in the new Q-Live product is an inter-user signalling system for handovers during longer live subtitling sessions. A simple and intuitive traffic light allows a live handover to be initiated either by the on-air subtitler or by their 'buddy', making the handover as smooth and easy as possible.
Combining these new features with the established elements of WinCAPS such as newsroom feed and automatic text segmentation, makes Q-Live a veritable powerhouse in subtitle preparation.
